This oasis is located in Maranhão state of Brazil, and has been designated a national park by the government. Lying just outside the Amazon Basin, the region receives abundant rainfall at the beginning of the year, leading to the formation of beautiful lagoons of various hues. The region is home to the Caeté Indian people and is a major tourist attraction.
